As you can see, eShop offers lots of possibilities that the more basic FatFreeCart plugin standard in our shopping cart enabled packages does not. Most important are it’s ability to do price variations per item post, address (zone) and class (weight range) based shipping charges, basic inventory tracking, and discount/coupon codes.

Below, you’ll notice 2 different dropdown options available. You will not be required to use both methods on your item posts, I’ve just used both here for demo purposes.

• The “Global” set of options can be set to add on to the base price of the item you’ve set in the post itself. Global option sets are configurable via the eShop area of the admin panel, and once created, easily chosen per post. Example usage of Global option sets might be common sizes or fabric options you offer on many of your products.
• The per post set of options are specific to the item post, and are created on the “Add Post” page of the admin panel per post.

We have shipping set to a flat rate per zone for this site, so the shipping price will depend on what address you enter into the Checkout form. Your installation of eShop allows you to configure 5 different zones (shipping destinations), with 5 classes (shipping weight ranges) per zone (we have chosen not to use weight classes for this demo). This is not exact weight based shipping, but does allow you to approximate shipping more precisely than FatFreeCart’s per item flat rate/flat rate per additional item system. Once you have your zones and classes configured with shipping prices, you will be able to choose a class for each item on the “Add Post” page in the admin area. That information combined with the zone the customer’s address falls into determines their shipping charge.

The basic inventory tracking feature of eShop allows you to specify how many of an item you have in stock, and displays an “Out of Stock” message automatically when the item stock is depleted, or at your discretion using a checkbox in the admin area. Be warned that the inventory system does not adjust the stock count until checkout is completed, so if two people add a OOAK (one of a kind) item to their carts while visiting simultaneously, you could oversell. In order for the system to prevent this, visitor #1 would need to checkout before visitor #2 tried the item to their cart. The system does not display the “Out of Stock” message on an item until checkout is complete, and once an item is in someone’s cart, they are allowed to go through with the purchase.

eShop also allows you to create unlimited discount/coupon codes for your customers to use on your products! Discount types include percentage off limited by date, uses, or both, and free shipping limited by date, uses, or both. The ability to create permanent percentage off for amount purchased discounts is also available. There is a 50% off discount code set up for this demo called “testcode”. You may enter it on the checkout screen, but it will only take effect if your order is over $0.01, so be sure to choose an option that will charge you accordingly.

Please note: your eShop installation will include a sidebar widget that displays text links for “view cart” and “checkout” as well as an “Items in cart” count. We do not utilize this feature at this site because our main shopping cart is FatFreeCart. If you need to revisit your cart, simply add another item from this page to it (you can always empty or adjust your cart items once there).

As you can see, the FatFreeCart plugin also offers you the freedom to create up to 3 dropdown or text field variables* that are passed along to PayPal (and then to you) with the payment. Great for custom ordering where customers have a choice of sizes, fabric types, etc. (as long as all of the items that could be ordered from this post would end up the same price).

I’ve added a flat shipping cost of $0.02 to this item, with a cost of $0.01 for each additional of the same item (same item = exact same options). FatFreeCart DOES NOT support weight or address based shipping, only these two flat rate options*.
